About Us

Steadfast Roofing Ltd started in 1986 as a small family business of specialist roofing contractors consisting of Leo Mullen and his two sons, Daniel and Leo. All aspects of the business were run from the family home in Clapham, Bedfordshire, and the company expanded quickly, with its first customer being Wheatley Winton Hayes. In 1990 Leo Snr. retired and the company took on a contracts manager, accountant, administrator, and approximately 20 roofers.

By 1993, annual turnover had reached £1 million, necessitating movement to a unit in Murdock Road, Bedford, where Steadfast Roofing Ltd. became one of the first in the U.K to be accredited to the B.S.I. Quality Management System, BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

Continued expansion required relocation to larger premises and employment of the first full-time estimator in 1994. Contracts were now being carried out for major house builders such as Barratt, Bovis, George Wimpey, Kingsoak and Persimmons, and with you the customer and your interest and continuous business we once again required larger premises and in 1997 moved to our current address at Station Road, Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, employing a new contracts manager, a second estimator, and more administrative staff and roofers.

In 1998, our sister company, Steadfast Roofing Merchants Ltd, was created to complement the contracting department by providing a comprehensive supply of roofing and tiling materials. At the present time, Steadfast Roofing oversees approximately 90 roofing operatives and has an annual turnover of £6-7-million, and the Merchants have expanded their turnover to £2-3-million.

Throughout this period of growth, the company has retained its family directors and consolidated its relationship with the major building contractors while remaining flexible enough to carry out smaller one-off jobs.
